Travel Photo Stories: Crete

When it came to photographing Crete, one of the most challenging aspects was not producing too generic a set of photographs. When you are provided with such dramatic backdrops and picturesque buildings, it can become all too tempting to amass a collection of postcard images. At the same time, I didn't want to stray away from what makes Crete so special. It is an undeniably simple island, embodied by strong family values and a proud, regionalist attitude, and in turn this was what I hoped these photographs would show. Despite the simplicity and ageing aesthetic, it is a place of incredible beauty, rich in culture and colour.

Camera Used: Canon T50 (35mm)
